Fiddling with mapplets and KML because i can’t not fiddle

After a brain filling day at Google Developer Day (GDD07), i just want to play a little with adding a KML layer to Google Maps in the mapplet pane. (Unfortunately, i have to respond to all the events that occured while i was out.) I’d made a KML file a few months ago, mainly for use with Google Earth. I had learned that i could add them to Google Maps, simply by searching for the URL of the file: tah-dah!, that’s the Spring Travels with Gurdonark KML.

Oh, cool. I swear this wasn’t there this morning. Now when i search for the KML file, there’s a “Save to Mapplets tab” in the upper right of the search result pane. This moves the KML file over to the Mapplets tab, and i can turn on the real estate mapplet and discover, wow, houses in Sulphur Springs, TX — near the first placemark in the KML — are pricy. (Although they look like half million dollar houses, unlike the condos around here….)

A “working” mapplet is here. One can load this into the “Mapplet Scratch Pad” and run it. I think i need to work at prettifying my KML now.

KML, gurdonark, mapplets
