The deck before the Saturday cleaning

The deck before the Saturday cleaning

Saturday, I got the deck cleaned for the first time in a long while — although i hope it’s been since the news of the OCLC “combination.” I took a before photo, but nor a similar after. Actually, the main improvement was cleaning up the fallen bird seed shells, which would not particularly stand out in the photo.

I’ve pondered getting plant racks that i could put against the screen/glass door that we don’t use. I’m glad I haven’t, because we’ve been keeping the bikes on the deck since the neighborhood cleaned derelict bikes off the bike racks. Ever since, i’ve pondered that the bikes are safer, particularly in an earthquake, on our deck. And, hey, i guess my arms are getting a work out.

So this looks useful — and i bet i’d have better luck with plants that need more sun: veggies. Adjustable Flower Pot Rail Rack — ~$17

This versatile rack expands to 24″L, accommodating a variety of flower pots. Brackets adjusts from 3 1/2″ to 6″W, fitting most any balcony or deck railing. Designed in green steel, it’s a handsome backdrop to any floral display. 14 1/2″L x 4″H x 10 1/2″D.
